Sunday at Grandma's
Stella spent most of her sunday at Springleaf.
Mummy xiu wanted to show all that "little one" is so well behaved now and give dad, mum, xin and dajie a chance to see stella.
Unfortunately, she didn't take her afternoon nap as planned, so made the whole schedule go out of whack.
Oops.
But while she was there, she melted dad's heart. You know it when he goes in to see her before he went out for dinner. So I guess now the whole family has officially been won over by the "little one". Mum was conquered by day 1, xiaomei got won over when she carried stella for the first time, da jie when she started playing with stella, spunky and pinky cat.... and now dad.
Stella - time to win over cww and wk!

Cutesy baby
I checked back on my blog and realised that the last post was in 12 Feb.
That's a good 2 weeks with no Stella update!
Why?
Erm... cos
1. I brought stella to have her jaundice checked twice (-2)
2. It was chinese new year, daddy chin was home (-10)
3. stella has been so good and so cute you don't want to leave her (-14)
In the past 2 weeks, Stella has grown more mature. (At least that's what her parents think)
She smiles so much more, falls asleep on her own more easily. (I carry her for about 10 mins max before i put her down), she takes her full afternoon nap and wakes up for her middle of her night feed only once at 4am (which takes 30mins) instead of at 2am(1 hour) and then at 5am(1 hour).
I feel so lucky.

never ending race
what keeps mummy xiu busy?
1. sleeping/resting -(6 hours)
2. eating - (2 hours)
3. carrying stella (6 hours)
4. watching stella ( 3 hours)
4. bathing stella (0.5hours)
5. feeding stella (3.5 hours)
6. making milk for stella - i.e. expressing milk (3 hours)
I used to think that producing sufficient breast milk is a very natural thing. If the baby feeds well, then you will definitely have enough. After all, it is a supply and demand equation. Realised it is not so simple. Last weekend, I was just about to applaud myself that I will be able to exceed her requirements by a bit so that I will not have to express milk every 3 hours. And be stuck to the machine for 3 hours!
Unfortunately, we just weighed stella this morning and she is about 4.9kg already. That means that she has to drink more milk! Sigh. I guess I still have to express every 3 hours to ensure that there is enough food for her.

night out
Daddy chin and mummy xiu took time off and went out last night!
It was really something special. It was the first time they went out on their own without stella.
Daddy chin had come home earlier cos he had just finished a presentation at the end of the day and had done enough work for the day. Well, he rushed into the door at 7.30pm hoping to see stella awake. However, punctual stella had gone to bed at 7pm as per schedule. Well, mummy xiu had wanted to pay her singtel bill at the AXS machine so daddy chin suggested that they go out after dinner to do so. Maybe even to PARKWAY!
Eagerly mummy xiu finished her dinner, expressed the milk and grabbed her shopping list. They didn't do that much, just went to GIANT for mundane baby stuff and groceries, withdrew some cash and had scoopz durian ice cream. But it was fun! (Heh, Actually mummy xiu was abit of a kancheong spider the whole time they were out, afraid that stella would wake up earlier.)
They got back at 10pm and stella was not awake yet.

manyue part 4
The final of the manyue parties.
We arrived at my parent's place at 1.30pm, just after stella had finished her nap.
The 2 hour nap plus the 120ml of milk put her in an excellent mood for the whole afternoon.
She was truly the star of the party and was an excellent host at such a young age. Everyone took turns to carry her and she stayed awake, quiet and very adorable the whole time. The uncles and aunties were queueing up to carry her, eager to relive memories of when their children were that young and she happily obliged. There were so many people that I don't even remember who was there. My dad was a little unfortunate cos the only 2 times he carried her she wimpered slightly. (sorry dad, better luck next time)
I was really glad to get that time off and did not even get to carry stella again til 4pm to feed her that 20ml of water. Wow 2.5 hours of solid entertaining - kudos to stella!
We left for home at 4.30pm and stella had a quiet evening unwinding and had an early night.

family outing
Daddy chin, mummy xiu and baby stella went out last sunday! It was the first time we went out - for fun and not just to see the doctor.
Chin was the one who came out with this brilliant idea. "It's time the 3 of us went out together!" At first I thought he meant someplace near like east coast park but he had a much better idea. We went to see one-north cos he heard that the glass facade for fusionpolis (oops now fusionopolis) was up already. Wow. All the way to buona vista! And it was great cos it was something I would really like to see instead of entirely for stella.
So after breakfast, the 3 of us went out. We saw fusionopolis, ntu alumni, one-north residences and the new roads. Very exciting. Stella didn't really see much cos it was her naptime but I think she enjoyed the car ride.
Wonder where we should go next weekend?

the day the music died
The tiny love mobile stopped turning last weekend. Considering it was the second mobile that did not turn i was convinced the mobile was faulty. In fact I thought that this mobile was a defective model that i sent an email to tiny love in the US. I was really angry and frustrated cos the mobile was so expensive and it stopped turning the moment stella was supposed to be able to look at it. Plus i did not want to ask my elder sis to get it changed again cos she was so busy with her own stuff.
So whenever I was free and stella was not in the cot, I would unassemble it and try to fix it for princess. Yesterday, I realised that the singapore distributor for the mobile was a 5 min drive from my house, so I drove there to get them to check it out.
Guess what! The battery was low! That was why it could play music but not turn. Ahh.. no wonder the turning motion was so slow when it was working.
stella was entertained again for 20 mins yesterday.

wanted: a nanny for stella
I constantly constantly worry about who will take care of my little princess when i go back to work. Will there need to be an extra full-time help? or can nanda do the job? Should she placed in a few hours day care? or is a day-time auntie good enough? I am really not sure and very confused.
I consider myself a rather capable person, but just taking care of her full time drains me out too, and I don't even do the dishes, wash the clothes, iron or mop. Does she get easier or harder to take care of?
Will having an extra pair of hands for stella make her a spoilt girl? Possibly. Does a little girl need to be watched constantly? My nephew at 4 is watched constantly, but i know for sure at that age, you don't have to.
So many questions. and no answers.
Well, at least nanda has learnt to carry the baby and change her diapers... things may be looking up.
